DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOUR THERAPY
First developed and researched by Prof. Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., at the University of Washington in the late 1970's. Original research is evidenced based practice for clients suffering the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (Complex PTSD). Now researched to be effective for many other diagnoses for clients who have difficulty in managing their emotions. Many disorders such as BiPolar, Depression and Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Panic Disorders etc. are being assisted by the learning of DBT skills.
Megan's experience has demonstrated that combining creativity with DBT Skills training helps clients identify repetitive behaviours and can assist in reintegrating information in the safe contained environment whilst working in a therapeutic relationship with a Registered Art Therapist.
A client's image and Description
Art Psychotherapy/Art Therapy involves the process of engaging creatively with art in a therapeutic supporting relationship. Megan works within the traditional frame of an Art Psychotherapist and offers individual and group therapy for clients of all ages. Art Psychotherapy is suitable for children, adolescents, adults and seniors and is based on the belief that the process of engaging creatively in art making, within a therapeutic relationship, supports changes in a client's inner world, and helps the client to develop a more integrated sense of self, with increased self awareness and acceptance. It assists with improving the client’s personal growth and insight, processing of traumatic experiences, and resolving of inner conflicts.
Megan has developed a Weekend Workshop training titled 'Art Therapy and Creativity with varying model of treatment for different client groups'.
YOU GET TO EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF WITH 8 ART EXERCISES THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND
